Ryan Kesler: 43 games, 6 points, -15 and making $6.8 million. Oh, and three more seasons on that contract to go.

That is far uglier than an 11 game losing streak.

We're not as bad as we are when were losing and we're not as good as we seem when we're winning.

The issue with this team is inconsistency. There were times in the Pens game (first period) where we played really well. It probably should have been 3-2 at the end of the first, but we played with a hot team in that first period. Then we were trash in the second and third.

We also played the Jets well in the first and got a bounce for the first goal. Unfortunately, we gave a great home power play too many chances and they came back, but I wouldn't say we played poorly in the second and third. In fact, when overtime rolled around, it was 3 to 3 with each team having 30 shots.

I would pump the brakes on the doom and gloom Steve. You pumped them up too much a month or so ago when we were winning and playing well (only one post in several weeks when we were playing well) and now that we're losing you're just piling on (several posts in the past few weeks).

I don't think this team is one of the best in the West, but they could definitely be a playoff team once everyone is healthy and jelled. They need more primary and secondary scoring and Kesler needs to do more than just shut people down. At this point, Carter Rowney is a better player and we're not paying him nearly as much.

And Bob saw such progress last night that he issued a statement giving Randy a vote of confidence. For most franchises that would be the kiss of death. But in the Duck’s upside down world it probably means Randy will get a contract extension.

No, I don't think that is going to happen. I don't think Bob got rid of Carlyle because he can't convince Queneville to take the job and he doesn't want to screw up the great thing the Gulls have going by bringing up Eakins. After this season, Carlyle will be moved upstairs to a scouting position and a new coach will be brought in.

You`re right. I still believed in this team but with each loss it got less and less. That Pittsburgh game was eye opening.

Palumbo is the Sharks blogger. I would rather go without than have a blogger that doesn't give a rats ass about the team.

Well thanks for the memories cogs. We use to have the best shut down line in the league. Now Keslers hurt, cogs has been traded and silfverberg is going to be a RFA. You can't be afraid of change. But it really hurts when you you've been leaning on something so long that it almost defines your team. The ducks players always kept saying all year that we don't have an identity. In the past 6 years that was easy. Getzlaf/Perry and the Kesler line. But things are changing. And it was inevitable. But man I really wanted to win with this core.

In a way I am glad to see cogs go. Was he a fan favorite yeah, but for me personally he fell out of favor for me. He would go out there and seemingly not do much (11 points). So I am glad to see him go, especially for a guy with more points, on a shorter, cheaper contract. Cogs is replaceable.

I cant imagine they would but I would love to see Kes bought out. They were playing him on the 4th line last night with sherwood and gibbons and moved Rowney up. Since the injury he is nowhere near what he was, and is not worth anywhere near the almost 7 mil he's making.

It wasn't always that way with cogs though. He was one of the players that made it possible to to win as much as we did over the last 6 years . Think about the contract he signed before this one. I think it was 5 years at less than a million dollars. For a guy who never missed a game and played his heart out plus brought leadership. That's huge. You can hate his current contract. But don't hate him. We were lucky to have cogliano.

I don't hate him and I really liked his game, and the player he was, and how much he helped the team do all it did. The problem is those are past tense verbs
